Privacy notice

Last updated: July 20, 2026

TCast is built by an independent developer to run your show, not to watch you.

TCast is developed and operated by Henry Kamstra, a sole proprietor doing business as TCast. The app contains no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. This page lists everything that is collected, why, and for how long.

Using the app

Your media, playlists, and projects stay on your Mac. Nothing about or in your library is sent anywhere.

Buying a license

Checkout is handled by Stripe, the merchant of record, under the Link brand. Stripe collects your name, email, and payment details under its own privacy policy. No one else sees your payment details.

When a purchase completes, the TCast license service stores the following: your license key, the email from the purchase (so your key can be recovered), the checkout reference from Stripe, and later the activation records for your Macs.

Activating and the trial

Activation sends a machine identifier to the license service. It's a one-way SHA-256 hash derived from your Mac's hardware UUID which is a fancy way of saying the actual UUID never leaves your machine, and the hash can't be linked to anything outside TCast. It exists solely to count license seats. Starting the trial stores the same hash with a start date.

After activation, the license lives on your Mac and the app works fully offline, forever.

The upload inbox (Pro)

If you turn on internet uploads, files sent through your upload link are stored temporarily on the server until your TCast instance collects them. If the app is already open, the files are downloaded and immediately deleted from the server, and if not, that happens when TCast is next opened. If the app isn't opened to collect them within 7 days, the files from the upload link are deleted automatically. Files are stored to be handed to you, so they're not scanned, analyzed, or shared.

Updates

The app periodically checks updates.tcast.app for a new version. That request carries the usual technical basics (IP address, app version) in standard server logs and nothing else.

Where things live

The license service and upload inbox run on Cloudflare's infrastructure (Workers, D1, R2), which processes data on my behalf. The website sets no tracking cookies.

How long I keep data

Upload inbox files are deleted the moment the app collects them, or automatically after 7 days if never collected. A 30-day storage-level cleanup rule is the backstop behind that. Files are never kept longer than this.

License records (your license key, purchase email, checkout reference, and activation records) and trial records are kept for as long as the license or trial is valid, plus whatever tax and bookkeeping law requires me to keep about the sale.

Server logs (website visits, update checks) are standard short-lived Cloudflare logs, kept briefly for security and debugging, then gone.

Your rights

Want to know what's stored about you, or want it deleted? Email support@tcast.app and I'll sort it out. Deleting license records means the license can no longer be activated, so let me know if that's what you want.
